Kimberly W Walker

My name is Kimberly. I am 58, a mother and grandmother with a love for sharing. Teachers often remarked, "She has a lot to say." At the age of thirty-one, I was in a car accident that resulted in paralysis from the neck down. I struggled with self-worth and confidence until my counselor encouraged me to enter the Virginia Miss Wheelchair pageant 2009. Health complications have kept me bedridden for over a decade, leading to a battle with depression. However, I found solace in writing short stories and poetry. Acknowledging this precious gift, I decided to embrace it fully. I chose to live for myself, not just through my children. Writing has given me a fresh voice and Blessed Beyond Belief emerged after a health scare in 2016. That was the catalyst...or therapy I refused to believe I needed. From that moment, I vowed to cherish every minute, committed to proving that I had something to contribute and that I was more than "an old fool in a wheelchair."
