Shirley E Knight

Shirley Knight is a Unity minister who was ordained in 2019 by Unity Worldwide Ministries. Prior to ministerial school, Shirley enjoyed a 27-year-career in information management where she progressed from training specialist to quality assurance lead to program manager.

As a volunteer Shirley founded a community arts organization called the Athena Art Project. For 16 years that organization produced an annual music and art festival and other community events such as concerts, art shows and readings by authors. For this effort Shirley was honored with a Certificate of Special Recognition from then City of Houston Controller Annise Parker and an Extra Mile Award from Uncommon Legacy.

Shirley is also a video producer and has interviewed accomplished musicians, authors, artists and directors of national organizations. Two short documentaries she produced won Access Awards for Programming Excellence.

Shirley earned both a master of arts degree and a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Houston. She attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston where her focus was on media arts. She is currently an associate minister at Unity of Houston.
