G. Mike Floyd

Mike Floyd spent 9 years playing professional baseball in the Angels, Dodgers and Astros organizations. In this time frame, he traveled by bus, trains and airplanes playing in 142-game seasons. His first five years were times of ascending, reaching major league status by being placed on the Angels 40-man team roster. Following several years of injuries, the career path was one of gradual descent until forced retirement at the age of 29. In these 311 pages of Bush League Blues, the reader accompanies the hard-hitting outfielder through the salad days and then prolonged slumps in hitting and playing status. Both were part of the game. Floyd spent 10 years assembling this memoir while working as a feature writer/photographer for dozens of publications. His collective works on American blues musicians is stored in a research library at UNC Chapel Hill under Mike "Nighthawk" Floyd. He lives in Roxboro, NC.
