Bart Bryars

Bart Bryars is the second eldest of seven brothers and sisters from Mobile, Alabama. His father Marion was a pro ballplayer and fireman and his mother Dianne was a writer. He is a musician, songwriter, producer, artist, author, playwright, illustrator, and librettist.

While stationed in the U.S. Coast Guard in Michigan, he was arrested for cocaine offenses. Three days before his scheduled trial, he faked his death in an ice-fishing "accident" and went on the lam. He was captured in Louisiana four months later and subsequently spent seven years in prison (1985-1992).

After 30 years of people urging him to write a book about the seven years he spent in prison, he finally did. It's this new memoir titled "The Rabbit In Me".

It was in prison that he made the decision to be a musician. To make a commitment to follow his passion. After his release, within a couple of years he had a band and has been making music ever since.

Through the years, and many bands and records and countless shows, music has been the key to his happiness.

While incarcerated, he had the time and patience to find his purpose. To discover his true self and experience self-enlightenment. Fortunately, he was able to turn what was designed to be a liability into an asset.

Not only does he have a new book, he also has a new album from his Nashville band, "The Feels", and a new solo EP called "Country Clubbing".

There is a new video to "Fire", the first single off the band's record, as well.

He has also newly published the libretto (book and lyrics) to a musical he wrote when he lived in New York City for ten years.

Lastly, he's making available a children's book he illustrated that his mother wrote. He illustrated it from a prison cell.

All of his new albums and books can be found at "www.bartbryars.com", along with some of his past band's recordings and videos.
