Joey Gilbert is an attorney, entrepreneur, former nationally ranked professional boxer, and advocate for constitutional rights. Born in Chicago and raised in Northern Nevada, he has built a career defined by discipline, resilience, and a willingness to take on difficult challenges.
A graduate of the University of Nevada, Joey earned a dual degree in English Literature and Political Science, with a minor in Italian and an emphasis in Foreign Affairs, before establishing himself as one of the most accomplished amateur boxers in school history. He became a three-time National Champion, four-time Regional Champion, four-time All-American, and Nevada State Golden Gloves Super Middleweight Champion, while earning Outstanding Boxer honors at national competition.
His success in the ring led to national recognition as a featured competitor on NBC's The Contender alongside Sylvester Stallone and Sugar Ray Leonard. As a professional boxer, Joey compiled a record of 21-3 with 16 knockouts, captured the WBO-NABO and WBC-USNBC Middleweight Championships, and achieved world rankings as high as #3 by the World Boxing Organization and #7 by the World Boxing Council.
The qualities that fueled Joey's success in the ring—discipline, perseverance, and a willingness to face formidable opponents—have continued to define his work as an attorney, advocate, entrepreneur, and author. He earned his Juris Doctor and built a successful trial practice representing clients in high-stakes criminal, civil, and constitutional matters. During the COVID-19 era, he became nationally known for challenging government mandates, executive actions, and policies affecting businesses, healthcare workers, military personnel, first responders, students, and private citizens. His advocacy included actions involving Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the United States Department of Defense, and other public officials and government entities.
Joey has served as Director of Strategy, Board Member, and Chairman of the Board for America's Frontline Doctors, helping lead legal and public advocacy efforts involving constitutional rights, civil liberties, medical freedom, and informed consent. As an attorney, advocate, and father, he has also been a prominent voice on issues involving parental rights, educational transparency, and protecting opportunities for female athletes.
Joey's daughter, Aiella, is the reason this book exists. A two-sport varsity athlete since her freshman year, she has competed at the state championship level in both wrestling and tennis and continues to develop the competitive spirit and fighting mentality that have long defined her family. Joey is immensely proud of the young woman she has become and believes she deserves the same fair opportunities that generations of female athletes have worked so hard to secure. His desire to protect girls like Aiella from being forced to compete at a disadvantage against biological males—and to ensure that parents have access to honest, evidence-based information—became the catalyst for the years of research, investigation, and writing that ultimately produced this book.
A candidate for Governor of Nevada in 2022, Joey has become one of Northern Nevada's most recognized voices on issues involving individual liberty, government accountability, and public policy. Whether in the courtroom, the public arena, or the ring, his career has been marked by a willingness to challenge prevailing narratives, confront powerful institutions, and engage difficult issues head-on.
