Mirna Hirschl grew up in Croatia during World War Two, and later when the country became part of Communist Yugoslavia. She studied architecture at the University of Zagreb and developed her lifelong love of the arts. She and her husband moved to the United States and settled in New York where she earned her BS and MS in Computer Science at SUNY Binghamton. Now living in Belmont, California, she has been writing and reading her poetry for about ten years. With interests in family and community, culture and history, nature and language, she has discovered a way to bring a deeper understanding of her life experiences through her poetry.
