BJ Moore

Hello, nice to meet you all here. Welcome to my author’s page, I hope you like what you will see and read here.

Trying to write an author’s bio on myself is rather hard for me because I don’t know what others would find interesting about me. With that being said, I guess I will just go with the basics. First off, I will admit that I am not an English major and I never went to college for creative writing, so please do not expect perfection when you read one of my books. The world is not perfect, and neither am I. I even include this fact in the front of my novels I have out. What I am though is a story teller, and a weaver of dark tales. I put stories to print that will make peoples skin crawl, give them have nightmares, and make them afraid of the dark. Overall, my goal is for people to just enjoy reading the stories that I have written, rather than being more concerned about picking them apart for grammar issues. That only serves to ruin the overall experience for them. Story tellers have been around since the beginning of time, and a person doesn’t need to be a professional writer to be a good story teller, or a weaver of dark tales either. You just have to have an imagination and a will to share it with others, and that is what I do.

Now, a little about myself is in order, I guess. I was born in a very rural area of North Western Pa. I was reared by both of my parents, Dave and Bonnie Moore. I have an older brother, Darrell who resides in another state, and as a family we lived on a property that has been in the family for generations. Currently, I still reside, along with my husband Calvin, on family land. I am the fourth generation to reside here.

From a young age I have loved scary books and movies. I was reading scary books before I was even 10 or 11 years of age. Back when I was younger, there wasn’t any semi scary books for kids like there is now, and I remember reading Stephen King by the time I was 12. My mother played a big part in what books and movies I read and watched throughout my formative years. She also liked to read the same genre of books, and watch the same movies as I did.

From a young age, I have always wanted to be an author, with horror being my favorite genre. I began writing in my teens and moved onto full-length novels over 30 years ago. Other than the books that I currently have out, I still have a lot of work, as in full length novels, that isn’t out in print yet that I am going to be working on over time. I also have a collection of short stories that in the future, I intend to pull together and making into one complete book.

My writing style was significantly influenced by some of the great horror/sci-fi writers out there. I don’t know if I can “name drop” on here or not, so I will err on the side of caution, and I won’t. But I feel that some of you out there would be able to figure out who I am referring to, especially being I already mentioned one of the main influencer’s names above. The other two authors that I like to read, they have also been around for many years and are very good at their craft.

Where do I get my ideas for my books from? Well, that is a question that I have been asked many times over the years. Well, to answer that question, I get my ideas for my books from my dreams. I always joke and say that my normal dreams are everyone else’s nightmares, and generally, that is true. I have always had vivid, full color, nightmarish dreams since I was young, but unlike other young children, it was something that didn’t scare me, and for me it was the norm. Anyway, as said, I always get the basic ideas for my books from my dreams; it is as if I am watching a broken up old video that had pauses and gaps in it. In my dreams, I will see short clips of this part, short clips of that part until I get the whole story laid out to me, and after I get up, I sit down and write out the rough draft for the story, and later I will just go back and fill in the gaps as I go.

What some people don’t know is that I do write in different genres, and under another pen name. All my horror novels are written under the pen name BJ Moore, but my other genres are written under the pen name BJ LaPier. For the other genres, I have another author’s page here on Amazon that is under BJ LaPier. That page covers all the other books I have out that are listed in the next paragraph below, so please be sure to check that page out as well.

Under the pen name BJ LaPier, I illustrate and design educational coloring books for all ages. The educational coloring books I have out are based on various animals in the different geographical areas that I chose to cover. Currently I have three coloring books in the “Out of Africa” series out, and they give the person coloring the opportunity to learn more about numerous animals that live in South Africa. Then there is the first volume of “Out of America” series, which is based on animals that live here in North America. “Out of America I”, the first volume in this series, deals specifically with animals that are commonly found in the Eastern United States. There are five volumes total planned for the, “Out of America” series, and the other volumes will deal with other geographical areas within the USA as well.

Under the pen name BJ LaPier, I also do religious based books. Currently I have four books out in the “Psalms of Nature” series that are based on the book of Psalm in the Bible. I also currently have plans for a religious based coloring book as well. My religious books that I do have out are all Christian based, but yet are nondenominational in design.

Well, I guess that about wraps it up. I hope this authors bio gives you a little bit of insight into who I am, and what I do in the field that I have chosen to take on. Thank you for stopping over to check out my books, and if you have made it this far, thank you also for taking the time to read all that I have written as well.
