Tanya Cook (she/they) is a sociology professor who researches why and how fans engage in charity work and activism. As an educator, Cook is passionate about combining popular culture and education to help students realize their potential. Cook co-wrote Fandom Acts of Kindness: A Heroic Guide to Activism, Advocacy, and Doing Chaotic Good, with Kaela Joseph after researching and participating in fandom-based activism. When they're not trying to find new ways to use fandom to democratize the classroom, you can probably find them putting together a cosplay for the next comic con. Cook lives in Colorado with their family.
