I imagine I am like you, somewhere on the journey from beginnings to endings, succeeding and failing, searching and finding... searching and not finding. I have watched the world more than I have participated in it, restricted to the small private spaces of earning a living, paying the bills and taking out the trash, trying to fix things that need fixing. Along the way in the nothing-else-to-do moments I have wondered who I am... and wondered who WE are--two big questions with no obvious answers. I have researched myself through poetry; and researched US through reflections on history, and reviewing the emerging insights of neuroscience, applied in my attempt to explain, at least to myself, the wastefulness of human conflict--the expending of these beautiful moments of biological life on planet earth... on strife and ruination. "The Democracy Covenant" is how I have connected the dots about US. The poems and photographs of "To Find a Higher Place" is the path I took to my dot.
