Florence Mihaela Singer

Florence Mihaela Singer is a professor and the executive president of the Institute for the Development of Educational Assessment (IDEA), Bucharest, Romania. She has obtained her habilitation thesis at the University of Hamburg, Germany, and has specialized in cognitive science within a post-doc research program at Harvard University, as a recipient of a Fulbright grant. She has published more than 300 scientific works, including research articles and mathematics textbooks for grades 1 to 12. Since the Romanian revolution (1989), she has been consistently involved in the education reform process in Romania, participating in the development of the first post-communist curriculum system for grades 1 to 12. For her merits in the field of education and research, she was awarded the National Order of Faithful Service, in the rank of Officer, by the President of Romania. She has worked as an international education consultant in: the Republic of Moldova, Tajikistan, Kuwait (in World Bank educational projects), Estonia (in a Council of Europe program), and the United States (research project at the University of Chicago). Currently, she is engaged in an education reform project in Kosovo.
