Rachel McCoubrie lives in Bristol with her husband and two teenagers. She qualified as a doctor in 1995, a coach and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner in 2018 and had her first book, ‘The Great Alien Cake Off’ published in 2019.
Rachel had a dream of being able to walk into a bookshop and see her own book on a shelf, so she was delighted when that actually happened. The icing on the cake (pardon the pun!) was then winning an Independent Publishers Book Award 2020 in the category Best Picture Books for Under 7’s.
Having worked in Palliative Care for 20 years, Rachel still works in the NHS, now leading on support and wellbeing for doctors in University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust. On her non-NHS days, she works privately as a Coach, visits local primary schools with her book and writes poems on current issues and random topics!
Rachel enjoys spending time with her friends and family, walks in beautiful places, sunshine, gardening, baking (cakes of course), writing poetry and dancing round the kitchen to her eclectic mix of happy music.
