Dr. Cheryl Matthew

Cheryl Matthew, PhD, is an Indigenous author, healer, and land steward whose work bridges spiritual storytelling, ancestral memory, and environmental justice. Her debut novel, Of Spirit and Bone: Legacy of the Wolves, weaves mystical realism with Indigenous prophecy, karmic love, and deep earth wisdom.

Born with the spirit of the wolf, Cheryl writes for those called to remember—those whose stories have been silenced, fragmented, or forgotten. Her work is rooted in her own journey of healing intergenerational trauma, reclaiming sacred teachings, and standing for the land.

She holds a PhD in Cultural Anthropology (Carleton), has authored nonfiction works on reconciliation and Indigenous policy, and facilitates plant medicine ceremonies rooted in ancestral protocol. When not writing, she walks the forest trails with her daughters and teaches about land sovereignty.
