I served during the Gulf War. My USAF reserve unit was activated, and I served full time for five months. It was a scary

time because we didn’t know where or when the next attack would be or come from. I served in the 12th Contingency Hospital at Travis Air Force Base, California.

Stepping back to give a better synopsis of myself, I graduated high school in 1984. I joined the U.S. Air Force in February 1986. Yes, going to Basic Military Training (BMT) in February was scary because of entering the unknown of what was expected. "is was my fortitude.

After technical school, I arrived at Travis AFB for my first duty station. Working for the upper echelon had me shaking and nervous as an Airman (E2). Every day was a challenge, as I had to adapt on a moment’s notice to the ever-changing environment of the Command Section of David Grant USAF Medical Center. The opportunity to serve in the Reserves came up, and I took it. Just three years later, I was activated for the Gulf War.
