Vance Voyles

Vance Voyles is a combat veteran and retired Sex Crimes and Homicide detective who has spent the last twenty years in interview rooms with broken people making up stories to help them confess their crimes. When not writing, he is an adjunct professor of Creative Writing at the University of Central Florida (online) and Kent State University (in person) where he also works as a full-time police officer.

He earned his MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Central Florida, and his fiction, nonfiction, and poetry has been featured in Burrow Press Review, Flash Fiction Online, The Short Story Podcast, Ghost Parachute, Bull, Creative Nonfiction, Pithead Chapel, J Journal, O-Dark-Thirty, Hippocampus (Pushcart Prize Nomination), So Say We All, and Rattle Magazine respectively. Most recently, he was selected as a Finalist in Adam Driver's Bridge Award for screenwriting for his screenplay Darker Forces at Play, which he is currently busy turning into his second novel.
