Meredith Platt

Meredith Platt earned a bachelor's degree in psychology, magna cum laude, from Hunter College and a Ph.D. in biopsychology from the City University of New York. She was a fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering for five years and a research scientist at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research for ten years. She has also worked for the Washington Post and the Asbury Park Press, and as researcher for Ben Hecht. Her favorite job was running the marine supply store in a boat yard in Sea Bright, New Jersey.

She knows Matthew better than any living person. His history lives in an old suitcase cared for by her late father, Chauncey Leeds Mitchell Jr. Once a journalist, Meredith tells how Matthew protects his family and deals with his own illness. A retired research scientist, Meredith and her husband live in New Jersey and have a beach house in Rhode Island. She fires on all cylinders as she brings something fresh to the table in this skillfully written book with its finely detailed gallery of characters. Her writing is smooth, and the story becomes a symbol of hope in this inspiring book.
