Melanie Proulx

Melanie Proulx is an academic-artist who specializes in comics and children's books. She is currently undertaking a Ph.D. at Queen's University in cultural studies. Her doctoral project examines how comics can reduce the risk of retraumatizing sexual violence survivors. In addition to her academic publications, Melanie has also published a picture book about consent (The Bum Drum Conundrum), a short story in the literary magazine "Montréal Writes" (My Frankenstein), and a webcomic based on her experiences living with chronic illness (Malady Magnet). She is also currently working on a graphic memoir as a part of her doctoral work.
