A surgeon turned yoga teacher, Jim is also a writer. “Joie de Vivre, As I See It,” a collection of 31 vignettes and essays—all centered around finding happiness in everyday life—has been enthusiastically received.
His autobiography, “Cutting Out: The Making and Unmaking of a Surgeon” is scheduled for release in the summer of 2022.
Another book of vignettes and essays, “Scribbling In My Spare Time” is also in preparation.
Jim coauthored “The Complete Idiots Guide Fast Track to Modern Manners” with his beloved wife, Mary Mitchell, which automatically makes him the most polite surgeon (and yoga teacher) you will ever hope to meet.
He previously wrote “Overcoming Obesity Through Weight Loss Surgery”—alas, unavailable to the general public, although widely disseminated to his many grateful patients.
He lives with Mary and their assertive chihuahua, Louis le Premier du Lac, on a floating home in Seattle.
