Life in a northern forest is the setting for this winter story as Ross joins Tilda, her grandmother and their friend, a folk healer, to defeat dark magic before the winter solstice.

I began writing in 2001, and for thirteen years wrote a weekly column on folklore for Johnston regional newspapers. Old customs centred around the winter solstice intrigued me — some are so ancient they pre-date Christmas. People believed there were dark forces to deter before they could welcome the return of the Sun.

When I am not researching old lore I enjoy the company of trees, animals, and lots of books.
