D.J. Young

D.J Young grew up in Aberdeen, South Dakota. After serving in the U.S. Navy in Japan, he received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Carroll College in Montana and later did graduate studies in Special Education.

After a season of pastoring, D.J. became a Christian School and Bible College teacher and principal for over twenty years. At the same time he and his family hosted over thirty international students with varying lengths of stays—from one week to three years—and various countries—Latvia, Germany, Guatemala, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Switzerland, Indonesia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, etc..

As a board member of Oregon Christian Writers for ten years, D.J. created a team of volunteers and directed three recent successful summer coaching conferences.

Presently D.J. Young is a full-time writer, mentor and conference speaker with a passion for encouraging men in their God-given role as Dad. He and his wife Kathy have been married over 44 years and are the parents of five adult children and grandparents of eight.
