Colleen Grove

I grew up around the Edmonton, Alberta area (Fort Saskatchewan and Gibbons). I currently live on an acreage near Stony Plain, Alberta with my husband and two young children. I have degrees in psychology and education and writing a children's book has always been a dream of mine. I've always worked with children throughout my career and was always good at writing when I was younger, I just had to find the right inspiration for a book. When my son turned one, I did a monkey themed birthday party for him because of his love for his stuffed monkey. I made some monkey cookies that turned into a Pinterest fail, but gave me the idea for a book about a funky monkey. It took a couple years of sitting with that idea and a couple suggestions from my mom for the story about Malcolm and the FunKey Monkey to develop. Once I had the idea to use a magic key to go on adventures, the story came to life. I'm looking forward to making this book into a series and writing more stories.
