Alison T. Smith

Alison T Smith is Adjunct Professor at the College of Charleston and retired Associate Professor at The Citadel (Charleston, South Carolina). Smith is also the former Associate Director of Women’s and Gender Studies at the College of Charleston. Her publications are included in the volumes Pilgrim Paths: Journeys of Transformation (Inter-Disciplinary Press 2015), Pilgrimage in Practice: Narration, Reclamation and Healing (CABI 2018), Peace Journeys: A New Direction in Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage Research (Cambridge Scholars 2020), Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Pilgrimage: Historical, Current and Future Directions (Peter Lang, 2023) and Food and the Pilgrim: Nourishment for Pilgrims and Faith-Based Tourists (Peter Lang, 2023). Smith is co-editor of the volume Women and Pilgrimage (CABI 2022).
