My previous life was as a software project manager, both running my company Carolla Development, contracting with the U.S. Air Force, teaching at The Ohio State University, and speaking at various project management engagements throughout the world. The culmination of my professional career resulted in my first book: “Agile Development in the Real World” (Apress, 2015).

My current life is as a writer. For over forty years, I designed fantasy adventure role playing games (think: Dungeons & Dragons) so of course, my first novel was a young adult fantasy adventure called “Falsoon’s Quest: From Shovel to Sword” (LitEstates Publishing, 2021). Another young adult fantasy adventure novel is planned for 2025.

My third book ("Notes from an Analyst: Genesis 1-11") was in response to the American Christian experience. I applied my analytical training to the most controversial parts of Genesis from the Bible to compare theology with science. The book is meant to explain and inform readers about the many issues and possible answers that reconcile science and Scripture.

The subject of my fourth book is a set of short stories that range in style from Gothic jokes to historical fiction as I experimented with different styles to improve my story telling. They are collected and categorized in "Plots from Literary Estates" (LitEstates Publishing, 2025).

As a hobby, I currently am writing/programming an interactive story using the INFORM language, the same language invented to write the famous “Zork” adventures. I was a 2024 participant in the international Interactive Fiction contest, submitting an early story in that language.(Yes, both are adventure fantasy stories.)
