Phillip Otts is a veteran of the CIA's Clandestine Service. In recent years, he's pursued a life-long interest in writing, with a special passion for historical fiction. The Harvey & McCrary Adventure trilogy was inspired by insights gained during his service overseas, including the observation that outsiders are often able to see the false assumptions of a society more clearly than those raised in the local culture. Living abroad also changes the traveler, and can open our eyes to the false assumptions embraced by our own societies.
Harvey and McCrary are the ultimate outsiders in the Antebellum South, for completely different reasons, and work together in an effort to end slavery and save the Union. The United States survived the Civil War, but the false assumptions of the Confederacy survived after the failure of Reconstruction, and linger to this day.
