Charles Pidgeon

Dr. Charles Pidgeon's career is unique. After extensive education at the PhD level, his first job at Eli Lilly resulted in him assisting another scientist with a genius idea. His role enable reduction to practice in less than a year and the patent submitted, by Eli Lilly, was issued in months. The United States Patent and Trademark (USPTO) considered the patent application absolute novelty with no prior art. His second position as a Professor at Purdue University he invented Immobilized Artificial Membranes (IAMs) which remains a commercial success more than 30 years later. Several hundred international laboratories and drug discovery companies are using IAMs for fundamental research with regard to drug discovery. After retiring at the age of 60, he decided to give back his. Knowledge to the community and Founded the Neuroscience Sensory Unit, which currently has approximately 15 high school and college students learning and publishing in the field of neuroscience. There are ~10 student authors for his most recent book. He spends all of his time to train young people how to make the transition from adolescent to adulthood.

The Dr. Charles Pidgeon is a life-long learner. He Founded the Neuroscience Sensory Unit to pursue an understanding of the Embodied Mind and the Embodied Emotional Mind and the role of the brain in human behavior. His approach is to develop a book for each primary sensory system with the ultimate intent of understanding the integration of the human sensory systems with regard to the Embodied Mind and Embodied Emotional Mind. This is the 3rd book from the Neuroscience Sensory unit. The first book is titled, “Vision Facts, Question about the Human Eye.” The second book is titled, “Social Consciousness Pedagogy.” The second book explores the Mind, parenting, Religions, Alcoholics, Abused women and describes evolutionary pressure’s role in understanding brain changes relevant to these topics.

Dr. Pidgeon earned his first degree in Pharmacy then an MS in Pharmaceutics, both from the University of Pittsburgh. He then earned a PhD from the University of California at San Francisco. After graduation he worked at Eli Lilly and Company for 4 years before accepting an Assistant Professor at Purdue University. He was promoted to a tenured faculty position as Associate Professor 6 years later and Full Professor within the next two years. He has been a general scientist for approximate 40 years. Dr. Pidgeon was awarded several patents; the most commercially useful one titled, “Immobilized Artificial Membranes” which has been used in Drug Discovery for over 30 years.
