Colin G. Pennington, Ph.D. (cpennington@york.cuny.edu) is an Assistant Professor of Health and Human Performance at The University of New York, York College, where he is the Coordinator of the Health and Physical Education major.
Pennington, a former K-12 coach, personal trainer, and physical therapy technician, has a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Alabama in Sport Pedagogy - Health Promotion, and a Master’s of Science in Exercise Physiology - Strength and Conditioning from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Pennington carries out research on Occupational Socialization Theory in sport pedagogy and innovations to adapted physical activity. His research focuses include teacher socialization, physical education teacher training, character development programs within physical education and sport, adapted physical activity, and health and wellness.
Pennington teaches courses including Principles of Health and Physical Education, Adapted Exercise and Sport, Curriculum and Methods of Health and Physical Education, Theory and Philosophy of Coaching, Physiology of Exercise, Anatomical Kinesiology, Testing and Measurement in Kinesiology, Research in Kinesiology, among others.
