Anna-Mart van der Merwe is a practicing Social Worker and Trauma Counselor of profession.
She lives in the farming community of Breërivier, Western Cape, South Africa.
She is married with her soulmate for 31 years. They have three adult sons.
Her passion is to help others overcome their difficulties, develop their skills and live the happy and prosperous life God intended.
Her own challenges - their eldest son was born with the genetic disease Cystic Fibrosis and his lifelong struggle to breathe and life a healthy life - motivated her to write her biography. With her writing she could share with the world the difficulties they experienced as a family. Additionally the writing helped her to overcome deep rooted emotions experienced over the years.
The book is also a helpful tool for parents struggling with children that has a disease. Anna-Mart's aim was to support, give hope and encouragement to parents' struggling.
Her son, Andries, received the miracle gift of a bilateral lung transplant after 25 years and 7 months being sick in August 2019. Part of the book is dedicated to the donor family and donor, Storm Smorenburg, who shared his short lived life of 18 years.
Anna-Mart is currently actively involved in Promoting Organ Donation and uses her book and public speaking to create awareness. She encourages others to donate their organs if they no longer have use of them.
