Lee's latest book, "FIREMAN DOWN: The story of African American Firefighter, Arthur Reese, was published in September 2021. This is a story based on true events. Arthur Reese was a firefighter in a large metropolitan city in the south. As part of a program mandated by the federal government to integrate all public services, He was the first black man to volunteer to to be assigned to a fire house that was a den of white racists. Although, he was subjected to humiliation and persecution by his peers who were hell bent on making him quit, he never gave in. His courage, character and faith, his example was exemplary. Decorated for his bravery, knowledge and demeanor, many of his persecutors became his defenders. Soon, they too, became persecuted and learned first-hand what it was like to be persecuted for the color of your skin. It is a compelling story of how one man's courage changed a community forever.
Lee suffered a heart attack three days before his book launch and underwent triple by-pass surgery. It forced him to cancel his book tour and promotion. Now he has the health and energy of a twenty-year-old. He is promoting Fireman Down with book signings, public speaking on the subject of race relations and starting a new, weekly podcast.
