Shareen Wilkinson

Shareen Wilkinson is one of the UK’s most established educational authors. With over 40 published books and over 100 titles series-edited for leading global educational publishers, her work spans English reading, phonics, writing, curriculum design and leadership articles. She has written children’s stories and non-fiction books with her husband.

Shareen pairs her extensive publishing legacy with her role as a Chief Education Officer, strategically leading education across a London and Surrey-based, multi-award-winning academy trust. Her books are directly informed by her real-world experience of raising standards and leading school improvement at scale. Her previous senior positions include Executive Director of Education, Local Authority Lead Primary Adviser, English adviser and primary teacher.

A fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and a member of the Confederation of School Trusts (CST) national Policy Advisory Group, Shareen has spent more than a decade working with the Department for Education. Her national advisory roles include serving as a KS1/KS2 reading and grammar quality assurance subject expert, and as an STA Deputy Standardisation Team Leader for national KS2 writing training. She most recently reviewed the DfE writing framework.
