Dr David Ivor William Taylor

Dr. David Ivor William Taylor is a retired Major of the British Army, having served for 21 years. He is an emeritus professor of business and military strategy and holds a doctorate in International Relations and Geopolitics. For the past twelve years, he has lived in China with his wife, where he teaches ESL and continues to write, lecture, and mentor.

A lifelong sportsman, Dave’s athletic career has been as diverse as his professional one. He has rowed for King’s Lynn, played basketball for all three military services, and swum for Middlesex County. His commitment to safety saw him volunteer as a trainer for the Royal Life Saving Society for 34 years. A qualified basketball coach and referee, his first sporting love remains cricket. As a qualified umpire, he is a devoted supporter of Middlesex County Cricket Club and can still recall many of its great players. When winter arrives, you might find him in the crowd, cheering on the Washington Commanders from across the pond.

His writing is as varied as his life experiences, ranging from poetry penned in his school days to spy fiction, science fiction, and academic research. This creative breadth is fuelled by a rich professional journey that has seen him as a government auditor, management consultant, military officer, and academic leader—all experiences that lend profound depth and authenticity to his storytelling.

Does he regret any of it? Not for a moment. Every situation, twist, and turn has shaped him into the writer and storyteller he is today: one who writes with genuine feeling, hard-won insight, and a lifetime of lived experience.
