Ruben Rivera has a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Boston University. After nearly 24 years as an educator, Ruben is Emeritus VP for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and Associate Professor of History, at Bethel University in Saint Paul, MN.
Ruben has given numerous seminars in schools, businesses, conferences, churches and other organizations across the U.S. on intercultural proficiency, intergroup dialogue, bias awareness and mitigation, and leading in a complex and pluralistic society. The "Shalom Seminar" he created, initially for Bethel University employees, has been called a "new paradigm" in faith-based racial reconciliation and other diversity efforts.
Although his poetry has won awards in various contests, Z is for Zapatazo is Ruben's first published collection. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife Anita.
