Alessandro Resch

I'm an engineer who identifies his Ikigai in training swimmers. This Japanese expression can be translated in principle as "reason to live" or "reason to be", something that can give us the energy and desire to get out of bed every morning. After abandoning high-level competitive swimming, a long inner search led me to understand what that sense of profound fulfillment gave me. Being a coach combines in me all the fundamental aspects to live with pleasure.

I've a degree in mechanical engineering (97/100) and I work as a freelance designer in mechanical automation design.

In 2004, after completing my engineering studies at the Alma Mater Studiorum (University of Bologna), I continued my swimming career at Imolanuoto, coached by the Hungarian coach Tamas Gyertyanffy, together with many high-caliber athletes such as Fabio Scozzoli. In my career I have participated in numerous finals at the Italian Championships and other international events such as the 7 Hills Trophy in Rome.

In 2009 I started my commitment as a coach at the same time, returning to Forlì, reorganizing my life and bringing a small provincial reality, Forlì Nuoto, to be a high-level club in my region. Until 2013 as an athlete I continued to participate in all editions of the Italian Championships in the 100-200m butterfly and 50-100m backstroke. As a coach I have contributed to the preparation of numerous swimming talents such as Filippo Megli (Italian record holder of the 200m freestyle).

I live with my wife Giada, a former swimmer and mother of my amazing children Mireia and Aaron.
