In the early 1990’s, Mary found her spiritual home in a metaphysical teaching based on a philosophy called The Science of Mind®. A diligent student, she received a minister's license, was ordained in 2008. In 2009, she unexpectedly found herself in a correspondence ministry with prisoners who had read her magazine articles and were interested in whether metaphysics was practical enough to help them adjust to the daily challenges of prison life. For all of her work, she received an honorary doctorate in 2020.
Mary has published several books: As Mary E. Mitchell: “The Practitioner Handbook,” 3rd Edition 2014. “History of the Center for Spiritual Living, Redding 1971-2014,” “32 Easy Lessons in Metaphysics and the Science of Our Mind” 2018, “My Search for Ancient Wisdom, One Prisoner’s Journey of Transformation” 2022. She lives in the community of Lake California in Cottonwood, CA with her husband, Paul, and two tabby cats that you would never guess are sisters, Amazing Grace and Mama Mia!
