I am a physician (MD), retired in 2021 after twenty-seven years in the US Navy and another fourteen years with the Veterans Health Administration. Through the courtesy of the US Navy, I have spent twelve years visiting the world's oceans and other associated "activities."
I put down some thoughts related and random ideas to what became my first novel, INTERMISSION, in late 2019 but had yet to write a book. Then, an outline grew from those ideas, and I started writing in early 2020 in my spare time. I discovered I truly enjoyed writing and finished the novel in December 2020. I then spent the next six months doing self-editing, which surprisingly turned out to be hard work.
I completed THE DOMAIN, the sequel to INTERMISSION, in May 2023. As of January 2024, I am working on my third novel, unrelated to the first two, a thriller titled THE SOUND OF COLOR.
I am a 1976 graduate of Emory University with degrees in Biology and Physiological Psychology and an MD from Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University. My wife and I celebrated our fortieth wedding anniversary in 2023. We live in western North Carolina with a splendid view of the southern Appalachians. Our three adult sons are scattered throughout the country. Besides my wife and I, our home is currently inhabited by three rescue and stray cats and two young Bernese Mountain dogs. They all seem to think they're the sole occupants unless it's time to be fed.
