Rashida Kelli Basaria discovered her talent and passion for writing at the age of 13. She began writing poetry in high school and her collection continued to grow. She received her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, minoring in psychology, from Florida International University at the age of 33. After experiencing the loss of her younger brother, and then her mother, both to suicide, Rashida felt inspired, and a bit terrified, to share her traumas and triumphs with the world. She uses writing to be vulnerable with herself and others and aspires to reach those experiencing or struggling to cope with the same trials and tribulations she has endured. Born and raised in Miami, Rashida currently lives in Florida with her amazing son. She continues to write as therapy for her soul. Rashida has lived many lives in her lifetime and decided this rebirth was meant for her to become a published author with her first collection of poems entitled Sabotage & Silhouettes.
