Doris Buttery

Doris Buttery was born in the Staffordshire village of Elford in 1920 where she lived for the first thirteen years of her life. Her account of these formative years - An Elford Childhood - reveals that while luxuries were few and money tight, there was plenty to occupy a lively and intelligent girl. Doris served in the ATS as a Staff Sergeant during World War 2 and passed away in 2018 leaving behind an entirely different world to the one in which she had been born.
