When I’m not sitting at my desk writing or editing, then I can often be found sitting in my wicker chair next to a gothic side table reading inspiring novels and teachings.
(I would heartily recommend Bulwer-Lytton, a long-forgotten spiritual novelist and friend of Charles Dickens, who coined the phrase ‘The Pen is Mightier than the Sword’).
On the other hand, I might also be going for long walks in the Welsh hills or practising my lute. Sometimes, I might actually start meditating and then decide to watch an old comedy instead.
Son of a Polish baron who wasn’t a baron at all. My late father’s original name was Glinski, except that it turned out it wasn’t, but it now makes a nice addition to my name. My mother was Welsh and hopefully descended from King Arthur.
I was born in England. Am I English or a citizen of the world? Well, both.
I now live in the Wirral, ancient ‘land of the myrtle’, a peninsula north of Chester and across the River Mersey from Liverpool. A place where the Vikings settled many moons ago. A land of strange place names and stirring legends, inhabited by a friendly and humorous people. On every street corner can be heard the whispering ghosts and eccentric characters of a vanished past that yet live in the collective memory. A place where the imagination still prospers.
Writing this novel in our lovely family home in Cilgwri has been the happiest two years of my life.

"Go, little book, from this my solitude!
I cast thee on the waters - go thy ways!
And if as I believe, thy vein be good,
The world will find thee after many days."
Lord Byron
