Lorna grew up near Oxford in England, a child of seventies Britain with strong Irish roots, and has lived in Berlin, Germany for nearly 40 years. She contributed to the German Handbook for NVC "Empathie als Schlüssel", published in the Beltz Verlag and her chapter covers tried and tested techniques on how best to use empathic tools as a CEO, stemming from her own experience. She is also a regular contributor to the German Magazine "Empathic Times" and has had a regular column since 2017. She is a revered and entertaining speaker both in English and German and her first book is co-authored with friend and colleague, Godfrey Spencer, one of the longest serving international trainers for Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
She works as a qualified psychologist, certified trainer in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), mediator, facilitator and business coach which takes her into many different scenarios and organisations and they all have something in common - everyone is desperate for more connection, to themselves and others. Meeting Marshall B. Rosenberg in 1999 fundamentally changed how she thought and acted and she loves integrating this life-affirming approach in everything that I do. During the process of writing up the stories she exchanged with Godfrey Spencer, she also learned so much about friendship and is convinced there is more to learn. One thing has emerged - we can all make the decision to cultivate friendship, with anyone, and that is what we will thrive on most, our inter-connectedness.
