Dr. Ruwayda Mustafah is a British-Kurdish political scientist, author, and founder of Saaba Consulting, a geopolitical analysis firm. She holds a PhD from Kingston University and has spent over a decade living and working in Erbil, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Her writing spans political analysis, children's literature, and personal essays on identity, resilience, and what it means to build a life across two cultures. She has published widely on Kurdish political affairs, KRG governance, and the human costs of conflict for non-combatant communities.
Her children's books introduce Kurdish characters, language, landscapes, and culture to young readers around the world — many of them from diaspora families searching for stories that reflect their heritage. From Hapsa Khan's pioneering spirit to the magic of a pot of dolma, her books carry Kurdish identity into children's hands with warmth and pride.
