James Alexander Thompson

Nominated for a Music Production Award in 2023 for his track Love At First Sight, James has established himself as a versatile composer, pianist and vocalist whose work spans television, publishing, and contemporary production music. His compositions have featured across some of the world’s most widely viewed programmes, including Netflix hits Life in Colour with David Attenborough, Love Is Blind (USA, UK, Italy & Argentina) and The Ultimatum, plus shows like The Voice and BBC's Stranded on Honeymoon Island. Iconic long-running soaps that often feature his compositions are Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Home & Away.

His internationally successful Piano Hive series, co-written with acclaimed pianist and composer Janette Mason, has become a global favourite among pianists and teachers. Designed to balance musical sophistication with accessibility, the books have sold widely and are used by players of all ages, with music featured on television across Japan, Korea, and Europe.

In addition to his publishing success, James continues to contribute to high-quality production music, recently working on albums such as Sounds Like Home and Peaceful Christmas for Bucks Music. His work has also been reimagined in remixed form for the Epic Vocal Drama album produced by Dean Valentine, further showcasing the adaptability of his compositions across genres.
