Jim Wilson

As a young man I became active in the civil rights and peace and justice movements. I studied at Maryknoll Seminary in Glen Ellyn, Ill. and then went to St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH. Participated in demonstrations in Selma, Al in 1965. Left college and went to spend time at the Catholic Worker in NYC. I worked with and watched Dorothy Day the co-founder of that movement and learned from her. There I also became involved in the antiwar movement during the Vietnam War. I was involved in various protests and ultimately refused induction into the armed forces. I was sentenced to 3 years in federal prison and served 2 years of that sentence. Since then have worked in various positions supporting people with disabilities. Retired after close to 40 years doing this work. I've served on various human service and community development boards. My writing is made up of storytelling and personal experiences.
