Jessica Mack

Jessica Mack grew up in Ladson, South Carolina, where she spent her childhood bouncing between libraries and bookstores. Jessica started telling stories because she was jealous of magical beings called storytellers who could breathe life into their universes with just their words, so of course, she decided to get some magic and make her own worlds too. She earned degrees in Computing in the Arts and Studio Arts from the Honors College at the College of Charleston, which she has been using to reimagine the world around her and create new ones. In renaissance-like fashion, she is also an artist, poet, blogger, and is working on telling stories in other media as well.

As far as what she’s passionate about…

She believes there are stories everywhere: music, writing, video games, artwork, performance, design, etc. She’s here to explore how stories get told in these different mediums and discuss (fangirl over) them all while learning how to tell her own. She is also focused on increasing the presence of POC narratives online, particularly Afrofuturistic fiction.

Her current main project is writing a novel series called Guardians of Masks and Memory along with some other side projects…

Through her company Ebony Xscape Productions, she is looking to create a place to indulge in an Afrofuturistic self-care narrative in the making all while imagining the i’mpossibilties of blackness.
