Dr. Grace Tsuyuki

Dr. Grace Tsai (a.k.a. Grace Tsuyuki) is the proud mother of four daughters aged 14-21. Grace has dreamed of writing a book for over 20 years--One Majestic Tree is the fulfillment of that dream. Inspired on a San Francisco hilltop during a silent meditation retreat, the words and story came in an instant and felt as if they were sent as a message from beyond. The message of this children's book will hopefully resonate with readers of all ages. As a PTO mom, she recognizes the importance of family and community when trying to grow “young saplings.” Trained as a Psychiatric Epidemiologist and Social Scientist at the Johns Hopkins’ Bloomberg School of Public Health, she often tells new friends that “she got her Ph.D. to change poopy diapers.” She fervently believes Confucius’ quote from over 2,000 years ago: “First there must be order and harmony within your own mind. Then this order will spread to your family, then to the community, and finally to your entire kingdom. Only then can you have peace and harmony.”

Dr. Tsai has had a lifelong interest in the meditative arts and teaches yoga, tai-chi and qi-gong. It is her wish that we all “Be the change we wish to see in the world,—Gandhi”; the simple moments when we spend the time to sit down and read aloud to a child is one way we can do that.
