Sandhya Deepak was born and raised in New Delhi, India, but now lives in Australia with her husband, Sam, and two gorgeous boys, Jayden and Aaron. Professionally, Sandhya worked for an international public relations firm, servicing well-known clients such as Ford India and PepsiCo India. Now, she loves being a full-time mum, and stays busy looking after her two energetic toddlers, whilst occasionally writing a book!
Influenced by the kind of books she read as a kid, she aspired to be a forensic scientist, but in her senior school year, she was drawn toward dancing. She was a dance instructor whilst studying English literature at university, and one of her proudest moments was to perform at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2006 in Melbourne, Australia, as a part of the Indian contingent.
Definitely not one to be the loudest in a group of people, Sandhya considers herself to be an introvert but loves to listen to other people’s stories. She renews her energy by reading, listening to podcasts, crocheting, Bible journaling and her newfound love of going to the gym.
Sandhya loves to spend quality time with her two toddlers, filling up the week with a range of activities and learning opportunities for them that contribute toward growing social skills, emotional intelligence and physical capabilities. She hopes that activities such as going to museums, driving to playgrounds that aren’t local, community-based kids’ events, book reading days at the library and the occasional theme park trips, will be memories that her boys will treasure.
She takes her role as a mother seriously and is passionate about teaching her children the importance of kindness, empathy, social awareness, forgiveness and how to love others, in order to support the social-emotional learning of, not just her boys, but other children in the wider community.
'The Gift of Love' is about showing love to others. Sandhya strongly believes that the principles illustrated in this book, if understood at an early age, will deeply influence and help shape the character of children. It is from this passionate thinking that she has decided to write children’s storybooks.
