Gloria Larini holds Ph.D in Greek Language and Literature from Italian Institute of Human Sciences / Scuola Normale; tenured teacher of Latin and Greek Languages and Literature at High School, she was former student of Vincenzo Di Benedetto (University of Pisa-Master’s Degree in Greek Language and Literature) and of Tiziano Raffaelli (University of Pisa- second Master’s Degree in Philosophy). She holds a specialization post lauream in Logic and Models of Knowledge from the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". Her work centers on Greek theater, generally on Antiquity and Permanence of Classics.

She has published articles in scientific journals and books: The archetype of the jump from a cliff: a ritual linked to orphic and indoeuropean rites for a new reading of Euripides, Suppl. 1012-1014 («Littera antiqua», 2016); L’ontologia dello spettro di Polidoro nell’Ecuba di Euripide (in Lo spettro e la verità, 2017); Saffo e Faone: una “anomala” e “anacronistica” distinzione di genere (in Femminile e maschile nel Settecento, Firenze University Press 2018); Giganti, solitari, anarchici. She is a member of the Italian Tolkien Society and the National Society of Classical Culture.

Didactic and literary publications.

On the teaching of classical languages he has written articles in scientific journals and two monographs: Ipertesti e didattica (CPE Oggiscuola, 2006) and Il sistema scuola-lavoro nei licei italiani (ETB Print, 2019). He has also been passionately writing short stories and poems since the age of six and has won national literary competitions with short narratives and poetic syllogs including Climax in 1996, with a preface by the writer and critic Francesco Grisi and positive critical judgments including that of the RAI journalist. TV GR2 Augusto Giordano, and I fiori della ginestra in 2008, with a preface by the writer Paolo Ruffilli, Belli i tuoi occhi, by Nicola Calabria Editore (2005). Under the pseudonym of Gloria Jo Castle she has published La gatta, lo scrigno e il regalo di Natale, a rediscovered tale, set in the countryside of the Tuscan coast.

Curiosity.

Not everyone knows that the pseudonym chosen for the fiction texts, Gloria Jo Castle, is composed of my name, that of the protagonist of Jane Austen's novel "Little Women", who wishes to become a writer in a world where women do not they can still fill some traditionally male roles, and from the surname of the protagonist of the homonymous crime television series (which I love) Richard Castle, successful writer and assistant detective.

If writing is for me a search for emotions and memories, the study of the classics offers me the opportunity to investigate the works of the past, to enrich the present and be able to understand with greater awareness what the future will be.
