Sharen started painting when her first born son arrived and now he's 46 years old. Boy time goes by fast. She still has her first painting which happens to be a landscape and in oil, not a medium she now uses. Over the years she has been an exhibiting artist, an art judge, business woman and a freelance newspaper writer. She always thought once she hit 70 (years of age that is) she would start writing a book, and yes, that time has arrived. It turns out it's not the crime novel she had always intended but a book on acrylic painting that had occupied most of her adult life. The writing was easy, just knowledge accumulated over the years, the self publishing a little harder, but it got done. It wasn't until she was selecting images to go into the manuscript that Sharen realised 90% of her art fell into the category of Abstract, Expressionism or Contemporary Art. So the techniques revealed in How to Paint Abstract, Expressionism and Contemporary Art, first released as an e book in 2021 have already been time tested, so to speak.
