Dugg Smith

“Uncle Ollies Alphabet Follies” is a humorous take on children’s ABC books.

It is written as poetry and illustrated by me.

I’m Dugg Smith, a retired actor, artist, graphic designer, web designer. I lived and worked in NYC for 50 years. I am always a voracious reader; I made notes and outlines and wrote chapters of books I wished to publish one day. Since retirement four years ago, I have spent much time bringing some of my ideas to life.

This book is just the beginning.

I have grandchildren in elementary school, and I go to the school once or twice a week to listen and help students learn to read. I have noticed that many of those books are not always very engaging, so I decided to try them myself.

One day while playing word games with —thinking of an animal and quickly rhyming about him, it occurred to me that this was a fun way to learn about animals. When I reached Z, I went back and began to draw the animals and their stories.
