Anna Cameron McKessock

Anna has been writing stories and kept diaries since childhood and has always been interested and an avid reader of history & biographies. Her first published book was in 1995 which told the story of her mother’s illness and death caused by exposure to asbestos. As the book went out of print, she re-wrote it and published it in 2020 (‘No-one Knows What I’m Going Through: The Secret Plague of Asbestos’)

With her parents meeting during WW2 and her Father Stanley McKessock on the Russian Convoys and her Mother Ellen Whitelaw surviving the Clydebank Blitz, Anna set up The Russian Arctic Convoys Club C21 and has been writing, editing and producing newsletters which she now publishes as volumes for the club. There are now 5 volumes available, the latest (Vol 5) being published in December 2021.

In addition to these WW2 stories, she also produced, in 2021, ‘Hands Across The Seas’ for The British Centre of NARFU, The Lore Museum and Valentina Golysheva of Archangel, Russia.

“I have been very honoured to have met and known so many of our wonderful Veterans and to have presented & spoken at events in Scotland, Iceland & Russia about the convoys and keep those memories and stories alive. And I have made so many new friends across the world – it has been amazing” (Anna 2021)
