Danilo C. Da Costa

Danilo Cleis da Costa, born in 1993 in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, is currently a Civil Engineer in the state of Arizona with a passion for effective communication. His captivation for construction and effective communication began to flourish at his first job: working in his father’s construction business in Brazil where he worked in different roles in order to support his father in the family business.

He began his civil engineering degree at the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in 2011 and decided to serve a two-year, full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he was assigned to serve in Orlando, Florida. This volunteering opportunity was his first time leaving his country and his first opportunity to be immersed in a different culture with a different language.

After finishing his full-time mission, he returned to Brazil and established a community English class where he volunteered his time on a weekly basis to help his fellow Brazilians learn English for free. The class, carried out by volunteers to this day, has helped hundreds of students over the past three years.

He then returned to the United States and concluded his undergraduate studies in civil and environmental engineering at Brigham Young University, Utah, in 2019. Danilo was part of the Engineering and Technology Leadership Council (ETLC) for the Ira Fulton College of Engineering and was an officer in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) BYU Chapter.

Danilo loves to spend time with his wife and family and never thinks twice when the opportunity arrives to help others better themselves, especially when it comes to the topic of communication.
