Paul Evans

Paul Evans built a successful 60 plus-year career in the music business, beginning as a Brill Building songwriter in the late 1950s and early 1960s with his major hit songs, “When,” recorded by the Kalin Twins, “Roses Are Red,” another word-wide smash by Bobby Vinton, and four songs recorded by Elvis Presley. In that same time period, Paul was probably better known for his own hit recordings of “Seven Little Girls Sitting in the Back Seat,” “Midnight Special,” and “Happy Go Lucky Me.”

When the “British Invasion” of English artists knocked the American artists off their ownership of the Pop Music field, Paul saw the writing on the wall but figured how to have success in the other fields that the music business offered those who would step forward.

Paul discovered the jingle field, writing, singing and producing music for commercial advertising. He wrote the original theme for the “CBS This Morning” show, took advantage of paid vacations as a ship singer on the beautiful SS France, sang and toured with the jazz quintet, Group 5ive, and wrote the music for an off-Broadway show.

And now Paul has written his first book, “Happy Go Lucky Me–a Lifetime of Music,” a book about those years. He writes about the stars and the villains that he crossed paths with, his travels around the world and his lifetime of enjoying the magic that the music business offered those who would dare.
