Jenny Handy

Jenny Handy was born and raised in Charleston, Virginia, in 1980, where she still lives with her family.

She always thought her real name, Jennifer Johnson, was too common for someone like her, so when she became a writer, she chose a nickname for her books, Jenny Handy, which entailed a much better reflection of her personality.

Jenny has always had a creative side, passionate for fashion and design, although she has not always expressed it so openly. Pushed by her family and believing that she would secure a better future with plenty of job opportunities, she chose to study finance and management in college.

After successfully completing her studies, she started working in a bank, but soon she realized that job did not fulfill her. She felt trapped in a world where she did not belong.

When her first daughter Sophia arrived, the idea of changing jobs and dedicating himself to her passions was definitely set aside. Motherly duties took precedence.

In 2016, however, she discovered a way to reconcile work, family, and creativity. Robert, her husband, seeing her creative vein extinguishing, decided to gift her a cutting machine for Christmas, the Cricut Explore Air 2.

Thus began, at the same time, the happiest and the most frustrating period in recent years. She finally discovered how she could indulge her creativity while being a mother and wife worker, but it wasn't easy. For the first year, she didn't manage to finish almost any of her projects with the Cricut. She got lost among the many materials, accessories, and the use of design space.

Jenny took control of the situation, drank gallons of coffee, and managed to make the best of it, becoming a real Cricut expert. Her creativity was on fire, and, at last, she took the courage to quit her job.

In 2019 she finally decided to open her own handmade goods shop, where she sells her original creations among much more artisanal products.

Jenny also started writing her first book with the purpose of helping all those girls, mothers of families, and workers that want to cultivate a hobby and a passion that can transport them to a world of their own, to feel fulfilled again and escape the stress of modern daily life.
